Fitting sprocket

Hi

I've bought a 14T JT front sprocket - the number on it is JTF308-14

but the thing is...it doesnt really fit??? i can press it onto the spline by hand about 1mm. ive lightly hit with a soft hammer and it doesn't really move.

if i really give it some and smack the buggar on....it will never come off! the old one i can slide on and off by hand.

I've changed a few front sprockets on other bikes in the past but have never had one this tough to fit.

Any ideas?
