Sissy travelling around Europe.
This travel was gay compared to others I see around here, but just wanted to show that the Tenere can take long travels 2-up, with luggage, no problem. The bike has 26.000 km and is completely standard. This trip was 4.000 km, including a 900 km day. Travel speed at highway was 110-130 km/h and fuel consumption constantly below 5 lt/100 km, with tolerable vibration and acceptable wind coverage. No oil consumption and no brake fade, even doing the Stelvio, Umbrail and Spluga Passes in the same day, fully laden. Acceleration in 3rd gear was more than enough for easy overtaking in the Black Forest playgrounds and I gave the GSX-R a good run for its money. Suspension was on the soft side (the damper is approaching its end of life), but at every coffee stop the other riders where complaining that their kidneys hurt from the bumps were we driving on the same road? Only complaint is the dislike of the engine for low revs. Passenger and I always felt comfortable, apart from a sore coccyx (posh word for ass) during the long day. When we got back, I felt like filling-up the tank, turning around and go again!
PS: That part about the GSX-R is not entirely true The route ![]() Venezia ![]() Dolomites ![]() ![]() ![]() Stelvio Pass ![]() ![]() Umbrail Pass ![]() St. Moritz ![]() Chiavenna ![]() Passo di Spluga ![]() ![]() Switzerland ![]() Freiburg ![]() Black Forest ![]() Esch-sur-Sure ![]() Luxemburg ![]() Ardennes ![]() Dinant ![]() Amsterdam ![]() |

Don't do yourself down mate - can't see anything "gay" about your trip? Looked like a good, interesting route and clearly you had a great time out on the road judging by the excellent photos. Doesn't matter how far you ride or where you go, if you get a buzz from it, you've had an adventure!

I like you simple and honest explanation of Tenere as you see it.
Its just like you say. The bike isnt brilliant but can deal with anything. Great trip, and nice photos. Makes me wanna go to swiss and Dolomites again. Luckily from Slovenia its not that far. Good luck! |

Probably the prettiest country in the world Yes, that was usually the case with the GSX-R (my brother), too fast. The excuse was "I'll go ahead to take photos of you coming". But we would always catch him at the next fuel station |

Good work, vaslyk. I really enjoyed seeing those photos of Europe, especially with bikes in them. I'd truly love to ride those Italian passes!
That was no sissy trip imo. Me? I would have loved it. |
