Symtec heated grip
Afternoon
Have any of you guys got the Symtec heated grip elements fitted?? I have them on both of my bikes but haven't got round to wiring them up. i was just wondering were to earth them? the cables go from the elemets (high and low) to the switch which ive put on the left hand side of the bars. But the earth isnt long enough to go back to the battery. (i think because there designed for smaller / enduro bikes so the battery may be closer) Was thinking of earthing them to the bolt that holds the plastic shroud on around the ignition barrel. its a metal screw into a metal lug but the lug is behinde the plastic shroud. so not perfect but should be ok i guess. Ideas? |

Always best practice to earth back to the battery whenever possible, just earthing to a bolt on the frame will eventually give trouble and will always create a slightly higher resistance in the circuit. Just extend the earth wire using solder and heat-shrink.

thought that may be the case.
the earth wire though from each element is rather thin. i could solder both earths to some slightly bigger guage and then run that back to the battery? |
