Giant Loop luggage

I priced up some Giant Loop panniers from Touratech the other day 700 odd for soft luggage, I was a tad shocked to say the least. Same panniers on E-bay from the states 401. How can they justify the massive difference?

I have a mind to tell them.

Welcome to planet Touratech!

Try Adventure-Spec for Giant Loop luggage...

http://www.adventure-spec.com/defaul.../panniers.html

It'll be 50% cheaper (at least)!

Take a look at the Ortlieb bags, not quite as robust as the GL or Magadan, but mine have bit the dust a few times and survived.

They fit on the Z without the need for any racks with the straps under the seat.

We have the older version of the Giant Loop great basin. Smashing bag but they are not waterproof. If you do get some GL stuff don't bother trying to seal the seams with the goo they will supply. It will never work. Instead get down the outdoor shops and buy lightweight waterproof rucksack liners or dry sacks. a bag of about 20-25 litres goes down each leg and a 12-15litre bag fits the central section. 2-4 smaller 2-3 litre dry bags will fit in any odd spaces left over. A heavy duty dry bag of about 20l fits nicely on top using the daisy chains and a couple of small Rok straps.

I like my GL bag.

What gets me is Touratech sell (for example) the Giant Loop Siskiyou saddle bags for 740 in their UK web shop, but 550 (649euro) in the German web shop - that's 35% more here, a stunning difference of 190! It's the same with everything else too. Why?

In fact I reckon I could fly over to Germany, buy some Siskiyou saddle bags, get back home again and I'd still have paid less than in their UK shop!

Nick.

I like Ortleib stuff, I use their dry bags for camping so I know their stuff is quality.
