7 Minute Rear Shock

Replaced my standard rear shock today in 7 minutes thanks to my easy Access grommet, http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=19485. Limited tools and bloody freezing in my girlfriends garage in South Dakota. With impact tools and warmer hands could have done it in 5.

Certainly beats the 2 hours it took me doing it by the book!

I've also got fitted the same shock (but Yacugar branded) - very impressed with it.

Good idea with the grommet, certainly helps the shock replacement, tho the exhaust still needs to be stripped off the first time the job is done as the bolt needs to be extracted to the left side of the bike. obviously the grommet needs to be a good fit as well.

If you look at the thread I put up you'll see I cut the head off the top bolt and pushed it through the airbox side, then put a new bolt in. My exhaust Y piece has never been off.

Ahhhh... bugga, this is gonna be a pain in the Harris!

Right, for want of better preparation I think I'll go down the 'by the book' road exhaust off, knuckles removed, temper tantrums. The red face Hulk will post how I get on later
