Thumbs up New XT660 Owner..Soon!

Hi Guys..after a lapse in biking I decided to get myself another bike and its prob going to be an XT..Friend has just bought a KTM 690 which is fab but out of my price limit of around 3500..!

I will be using the bike for general road use ..unlikely I would go off road methinks..

Im 5' 8" inside leg 30" which means I dont want a tall machine..is the R the best model for all round use?

Thanks!!

So why a dirt bike ?
A XTX would prob suite you best...
good on the road.. right tyres will
do easyer offroad duty...

If yer after a low dirt bike mainly for
road use... BMW F650 only have
a 790mm (31") seat hight..

I just want a lightweight bike for all round use thats fun to ride..most reviews seem to say the XT660 is just that!

Exclamation G'day Phil, +1 on the X

Rarely offroad?

Unless you want to ride on the dirt with your 690 straddling mate you would be better off looking at the motard XT660X.

Ride em both & see what you reckon.

R is great for dual-purpose/light adventure, X would be better for on-road use.

IMHO anyway. Cheers, Boneman

Hi Phil and welcome aboard.

I shouldn't get too hung up on the X or R debate, there are pros and cons both ways, just get the best XT you can for your budget.

hunting one down...

MT-03 is perhaps a prettier alternative if you really are going to stay on the road? - same engine, just more street-bike styling, and that way funky horizontal shock! - in a street-motard kinda way...

Plenty on e-bay at the moment within your price range, and they are less likely to have been hammered or used off-road, which is worth considering?

Jx

eg. this one is not far from you in Kent:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2007-YAMAH...#ht_500wt_1147

Great price... you could spend a bit more and get one with a few less miles, but why would you when this is in such good condition - it's orange too to really suck it to your KTM riding mate x
