Secondly,

I had a look on the Touratech site for these, as I need a set of roadbook/trip buttons. I don't think I'll be spending that much though! The buttons are more than I spent on my roadbook and trip meter!
got it second hand: 35,- .... cheap roadbook then

No worries; it's been tested thouroughly

... and it doesn't show my 'moments' on rocky Maroccan pistes...it is indeed a very tough bike!

I don't speak Dutch, but somehow "sloot water" doesn't need any translation

(also amusingly, if you type that as one word, the forum censors the tw*t out of the middle)

@Captmoto: Has anyone actually managed to crack a Tenere tank? I can't remember seeing any mention on here of anyone doing so.

It's pretty well protected in a crash - the grey side panels and the bar ends touch down first. I've crashed mine countless times, as well as dropping the tank onto a concrete floor from about a metre in the air while working on the bike.

Bike looks grand single_minded, have fun!

UT, I believe one of our antipodean brethren cracked a tank by using it and a car as a brake.
I can certainly vouch for impact and abrasion resistance on the tank. They are injection moulded nylon.

Battle scars

Well she has brought me home, just as I expected, but not without scars:

notice that the sidestand is missing... right side footpeg snapped off ... half ... but got that welded at a local black smith:

... lost a few indicators too... and the left-side bumper panel finally gave in: grinded on rocky grounds...

Will do a short write up of the event soon...

HJ

Hi,
for the record: These guys produce the Tenere fuel tank.
