Hi guys, a couple of quick questions regarding my recent 6000 mile/6 month service(bearing in mind I've yet to top 2600 miles yet)
:
(Total cost was 164.That about right?)
1. I fitted a centre stand myself (Yammy one) and the because the chain roller bolt is replaced by the bolt the left spring goes on, it states in the instructions to be tightened at 63nm. Now the mechanic who serviced bike said he`d never torque a bolt that tightly, probably only up to 30nm!? Now I've hand tightened it with socket ratchet(a b***** to even get that in behind the bolt) and it spins freely(i had actually overtightened it previously), but I`m worried about it coming off etc as I`m flying along. Surely Yamaha can`t be that wrong or am I reading it wrong off diagram? I couldn't even get a torque wrench in that space even if I wanted to its that small a gap.
2. Another chain adjustment question : Service manual says do it on side stand, but along with others on here and other advice, mechanic told me to sit on the bike and adjust it by hand tension(ie ignore the accurate measurements stated in manual and just do it by `sight` and `feel`) - I had wanted him to show me the correct way of doing it btw.
Farkling the bike I can do myself, but anything to do with drive train I`m paranoid and wanted to make sure that everything sounded right?
3. Unrelated, but my spokes after only 2500 miles are rusted to death. Has anyone got any joy from a Yamaha warranty claim as this is crazy. I know they are poor and its a common problem but they are bad, even after coating the whole lot in ACF-50 with a brush. If so, what is the process as my warranty runs out in June this year
Anyway, thanks for any tips and pointers
