yes

particularly the front its caused by the bi metal that is used in the brake pads having a galvanic effect with the tin on the metal spokes.

its because some bean counter somewhere said...

'Oi we can save $10 a bike by using inferior Italian junk'

rather than doing it properly: ie XT's build from 1965 - 2004.

Yamaha doesn't do warranty on it either.

BUT don't get me started. I am eventually going to replace all mine. JTR in Australia does spoke sets to fix the problem.

That's exactly why I started using organic break pads following my Z's first winter - particularly when the front break disc started showing signs of pitting after a few days parked in my garage.

Spokes? Get them?

Petenz, did you manage to find stainless spokes?

I'm gonna be looking for some for my XTX. I suspect I could take these current spokes out, spend a lot of time and elbow grease cleaning them up, and before you know it they will have started rusting again. So why bother, I'd rather just straight off get the stainless ones ... if they exist ...
