Grip Installation Tip
Apologies if this is old news:-
Trying to get heated grip inserts fitted correctly I had to think way back to when I worked in the golf industry. The below method works and works well, learnt gripping dozens of sets of golf clubs daily...... All you need is: Stanley knife Double sided tape White spirit 1) Remove grip by cutting the old ones off (or in the case of my new Tenere, pulling them off gently - Yamaha must be saving on the glue) 2) Clean the surface of old glue/gunk, but don't use anything that is oily or leaves residue 3) Tear off double sided tape and wrap it length ways along where the new grip is to be located (I used two strips, overlapped, to cover the entire surface area of the bars where the grip was to be fitted) 4) Remove backing to tape 5) Smear white spirit over the exposed sticky surface 6) Slide new grip on and position correctly. It doesn't stick immediately and will take 20-30 mins to evaporate and cure. 7) Ride away after checking - may need lockwiring (I do this to all my grips for peace of mind). Job done and works well to get heated grip inserts fitted correctly (incidentally 7.99 off Amazon and work brilliantly). Regards, Had |
