Thumbs up Cush Drive Mod

Hi, a big thank you to the inventor of this mod, and to all the posters on the subject. I've just done this, a little late if I'm honest, at 4500 miles approx 3500 may have been perfect. Anyway, what a difference, feels like a new twin rather than a snatchy jerky single. Thanks Mike.

Cush Drive

Hi, The cush drive mod lasted with little signs of wear, I've replaced the rubbers at 10,000 miles as I had the wheel off to replace the tyre.

What mileage can be expected from a new set of cush drive rubbers?
And if the mod is applied, how many extra miles does it buy you ?

Cush Drive Rubbers
Like all of us that have the XT660`s , the cush drive rubbers wear is a pain.

I found an article some time ago on the XT660.com thread.

The chain drive sprocket takes a tremendous load from the power of the engine , which causes the rear wheel bearing to wear excessively , even wearing the Chain Drive Hub Housing ,
The bearing will become loose in the housing at a later stage,

I fitted a double row bearing as apposed th the std single *row bearing.
And with Polyurethane rubbers .I got 56 000km without changing the rubbers again.

You only have to machine the rear hub bearing housing 5mm deeper /
The Bearing I used is still the same dia. as the original.
And machine the inner spacer also 5mm shorter.
It still uses the Standard Yamaha Seal

Bearing no, 62304.2RS From Bearing Man

Mine still has the original rubbers at over 11,000 miles. Still no play in the back wheel. Don't know what all the fuss is about!!
