Not best pleased !!
As some of you may know i bought a new xtz less than 2 weeks ago and was very pleased with it,before i bought the bike i done a bit of research on the xtz known faults etc,and found that the rectifier plug not being seated properly was a thing to watch out for.
so a few days ago after the run in mileage was done thought i would have a look at the plug just to make sure it was ok and as soon as i touched the plug i noticed it was loose and i could pull it off and it wouldnt "click" back into place,so today was its 600 mile service and i asked the mechanic to have a look and ive been told that the plug is broke and the bike will require a complete new wiring loom and theres a chance yamaha may noy honour it through the warranty ! because i could have broken it myself which is utter ********. so if the dealer comes back to me next week and tells me they wont honour it where does that leave me ? and also my panniers turn up from yam the other day cracked aswell |

Yamaha will only decline a warrenty claim if the dealer told them it could be self inflicted. So, in short your dealer is being an ass. Nail them with the sales of goods act, i've posted loads on here about it, have a search for it or try google, i can't point you as i'm on-line through my phone. In a nutshell, under the sales of goods act it becomes the dealers problem not yamahas......,

Hope it gets sortede out.
maybe its time we throw the law back at the dealers, make them give you a full refund, that will have them wriggling. Go buy another similar bike from another manufacturer it will serve them right. Is this on a New Bike i thought yamaha had sorted this out on the newer bikes ? I suffered the reg issue 2 months before my warranty was up and Yamaha honuored it no problems. It is worrying that this issue is still raising its ugly head. even more worrying is that Yamaha UK are not clamping down on crap dealers and crap customer service. Once its sorted you will still have a great bike

was the fault with the R/R due to the plugs being lose ?
or did some of them fail because water was getting into the top of them which caused the problem ? I can't see how these plugs can be lose as they lock into place, the clip would only break if it was forced open rather then pulling the clip back that holds it in place. if you do any work to your own bike while its under warranty the dealer could use this as a get out of jail free card ![]() |
