UK Bikes, coming up for first MOT Test
There are still one or two of us out there with original 2008 bikes (me, JMo, TenereDoug I can think of) , and from next month these will be coming up for the MOT Test....
I'm curious to know if any of them get fails, or advisories, and what for? Mine is booked in for the end of May and I don't anticipate any issues, but you just never know.

I'm hoping mine won't fail... it had most if it's original bits replaced in 2009!

Think mine is due at the end of june don't envisage any problems but my levers may need replacing as they are cut down, shouldnt be a problem as i know the tester is a decent fella

"Race exhaust" was my failure....my advice is just stick the originals back on before you go to the test centre.
They "sold me" some Db killers at the centre...they didn't fit very well, and there was no noticeable decrease in the volume/loudness of the exhaust to me (!!)...but they passed it. (and took my money) There is no "noise meter", it's up to the discretion of the tester.. ![]()

Just got mine done on Monday. Wasnt due untill July but I'll be away when it's due and I was at the garage with the Missus and her bike so both bikes got tested.
Failed on shot rear wheelbearings, not a fiddle by the tester - he showed me the play in the wheel. He lent me a spanner to whip the rear wheel out and then he supplied and fitted the new bearings for �15. The failed bearing was on the brake disc side - you could see the rust on the inside of the outer seal once the seal was off. The bike's only done 15k miles, all I can think of is that I've done one or two deep fords so the water probably got in then. Just had mine done... it failed! My fault though on both counts. Firstly, I've fitted a R&G Tail Tidy, and I'd forgotten to attach the little sticky reflector, also, I'd been running blue side-light bulbs, and didn't put the stock ones back in for the test, D'oh!!
![]() On the plus side, it took me exactly 10 minutes to sort it when I got home, and I get a free re-test within 14 days, as they were only minors.

Mine's due Dec, just went over 21,700 miles today. I had rear wheel bearings go last May, likewise after some ford playing.

Do you get any docs from the DVLA to say its due for the test?
