I guess you guys find these people lunatics, perhaps you are right, but that video which I have seen before is based on a turkish road, where, like most mediterranen cities very busy with traffic, is the only way for a skilled biker to get from a to b, it requires a lot of confidence and yes it is risk prone but no fool undertakes that kind of riding without being very confident and very skilled.
I was born and bred in Naples, Italy, one of the worst traffic infested cities in the world, everything goes there, and it goes very bad for that matter, disorganized and selfish way of driving from cars, vans, trucks etc, traffic lights are rarely respected by drivers, one way systems are often ignored and from a very young age going to school by Vespa type scooter, I have too learnt those skills and I used to ride like that or worse until the day I packed it in in '08. always on the run |

Over half the cages on the roads have dings, and driving seams to take third place behind, drinking coffee, jesticulating, make-up and that all important conversation (in person or mobile, it doesn't seam to matter). So I would agree with the Capt'n the skills of a rider need to be very well honed, it's kill or be killed..... (sorry about the shameless mis-edit, but I couldn't resisit ![]()

There is a fine line where skill and confidence meets stupidity and wrecklessness...and this guy is driving on that line....he will meet a mirror or truck fender one day and make himself part of that tarmac...hopefully not under a 16 wheeler.

There is filtering and there is filtering! Fine, the point has been made that this is accepted practice in some countries, but does that make it best practice. Skills or not, the margin for error is greatly increased with that sort of speed. As we all know, its not the skill of the rider that is normally the cause of accidents and in my view riding like that just serves to lower the reputation of motorcyclists. That said I imagine untli reality 'hits' (pardon the pun) it might be exciting and fun. I think I will stick to my more sedate and, possibly, less confident style thaks.
Still, good entertainment factor video.

It looks a lot worse then is. My parents live in Italy and I drive over every year and like Capt said that is the norm for driving/riding and no body takes any notice, in fact if you drive normal you will have more chance of getting hit up the rear, traffic lights I would expect at least two cars if not more to jump the red lights and you just drive/ride accordingly. If you come up to some lights that are changing to red and you slow down to stop, then you can bet that the vehicle behind you will over take you to jump the lights.
Adapt and survive

I used to ride like this every day through the rush hour traffic to work in salford and could do the trip that used to take an hour in a car in 12 minutes on my bike. Then one morning I was following another rider who I used to see regularly and he got it wrong. Thankfully for him it wasnt fatal, THIS TIME! If youre late for work youre late, sh#t happens. Riding like this with such narrow margins for error will end in tears, its not if, but when. Once witnessed it will change your mind.

Well I know what you are all saying, I have been riding legally on the road for 31 years from the age of 16 to the age of 47 (I packed it in in 08 due to my own choice)
I never once kissed tarmac, luck or skill it doesn't matter, fact is, I was able to quit on my own accord.
