Stiffer springs on new tenere for two up travelling
Evening all, hope you are all well. We will be purchasing a new tenere in South Africa in a few months time and the wife and I are planning on spending on 6 months riding up to Ethiopia. I have come across forums and mention of the fact that stiffer springs are essential for two up long distance travelling. To this end I came across Hyperpro springs and they run some sort of progression system. Can anyone tell me if this is actually accomplishing what I am trying to do? I need this bike to be set up for everything for a two-up 6 month trip and we will doing some serious roads too. Am I better getting an Ohlins rear shock or will these springs suffice?
I would greatly appreciate any advise on these springs and their validity. Thanks all and best regards Maestro |

I had Nitron

I have the Hyperpro upgrade, front and rear and there is a very marked improvement in the whole handling of the bike. The Stock rear spring does have alot of static and dynamic sag that the Hyperpro resolves. For the cost it is a very good modification, don't know how it compares with a whole unit replacement or if it is any good for 2-up (I don't take anyone on the back of the Tenere).
I guess it depends on the type of path you wish to travel.

Thanks for the information. Can I ask, the Hyperpro upgrade, are they classified as Heavy Duty springs? I know they are progressive and am glad to hear as you say that they help with handling of the bike but are they ultimatelt heavier duty than the standard springs?
Look forward to hearing from you. Best regards Maestro |
