SW Mototech centre stand copy

Hi Guys, I want to try and make one, similar looking. Can you (if you have such a centre stand) please take some close up pics, from both left and right side, and post it please? What dia. is the tubing used? Much appreciated.

Hi,

By coincidence, today is fit SW Motech Centre Stand day!

I've taken a couple of pictures of the beginning of the process:

You can see on the picture of everything the increased size of the screws to accommodate the two extra triangles of metal. The screws are different on each side as they have to hold different sized bits of the bike on (rear brake/side-stand). The smaller one is for the right hand side only and has a small hole for the springs on it. The two same-size triangles have the large hole which holds the circular bit from the stand itself.

I'm guessing the main stand is made from 22mm piping.

I can't say yet why the top of the left and right sides are so different -- presumably it catches on something if it's not a funny shape!

Cheers,

Ian

Great stuff, just what I was looking for.
Maybe one more close up pic, of it fitted, would be nice. I have seen on the net a pic of one fitted, but the lighting was bad, and all components being black did not help much for detail either.

Thx!!!

How about these (it has decided to be sunny today which makes pictures like this harder!)

Cheers,

Ian, just curious why the SW one and not the Yam as the Yam one is cheaper ?
Been looking at them and wondered if the SW ones are better in some way ?

Hi,I also have the SW and I haven't regret for the last Euro for it!(XTX)
But from what I remember(dealer's words)Yamaha is not making a center stand.(or is she?)
That's why I purchased SW.

Yamaha make one for the XTR? I must have missed that.

My choice was largely made up because of a lack of hard information about centre stands and bash plates and whether various combinations fit together without having to apply some metalworking skills so I bought the centre stand and bash plate from the same vendor (who you would think has tested them together). That was Metal Mule and as it turns out the centre stand they sell is the SW Motech.

Cheers,

Ian
