Had a test ride today 2 big qustions.......
Short legs.... will need to lower. Love Old ray's 4 hole bones anyone made and tried them yet???
What do people want? toes touching at same time? Balls of feet at same time? One foot flat on ground? Side to side without moving cheeks? ----------------------------------------- Noise Noise Noise. Taller screen Lower screen Any body got a fix for all the NOISE......... --------------------------------------------- and the third of the two questions Do some helmets help or hinder the NOISE ______________________________________ But other than that I loved the smoothness in town and open road. I wonder if the 09 xtx and xtr's are the same??????

Leg length wise I can get (at a push) both feet down (toes only) or with a shuffle, one foot flat on the ground. Usually though I just settle for one set of toes!
Excessive noise is not something I have come across, maybe at 5 10 I am just the right size for the screen? Helmets will make a huge difference to the amount of noise you have to deal with regardless of what bike you ride, if you don't already I would also recommend you use earplugs, that makes a huge difference. |

No problems with the height, can put both feet flat on the ground; the rear is pretty high, so gettin' on the bike can be difficult, once yer in the seat it's okay.
No problems either with wind/turbulence/noise; I use an Arai SZ/F jethelmet with faceshield, so... But I'm 1.93(ya gotta convert that!), so the Tenere is tailor-made for me it seems! Greetz, Hans.

I'm not as tall and handsome as dallas but can also get both feet flat on the ground. Still I only have one foot down at the same time so that's my comfort limit. Been taught (the hard way) that "if your feet leaves the footpegs you have already fallen" going offroad so I always keep at least one foot up.
Turbulence has been discussed in a numerous threads around here, try Nicks windstopper, test removing the windshield or get an extension. Or just get used too it and wear earplugs, most bikes like these no matter what brand seem to have this problem. Usually when the turbulence gets too tiering I just stand up and drive for a while, had plans for a mod of the windshield but I never got my thumb out..

I'm not so tall 1m75cm. I can touch the ground with both toes or one foot flat. Thats enough for me. In the beginning it was scarry sometimes. I don't want to lower the bike, because i use it off-road also. (ground clearance)
Noise? I use a jet-helmet and earplugs with a filter. I only hear the engine running and the traffic, but no wind or turbulence. Its the best bike I have ever had, despite of the bad quality of some components. But hey, it was a cheap bike, so..... greetings Cotthem ...and sorry for my bad englisch

Havent got a tenere but helmets do make alot of difference, i took my old Arai condor helmet out for a spin the other day and noticed a big difference in noise compared to my current shoei Raid 2.
Also you might wanna look into getting a chin skirt (no not a beard ), its a collar type thing that goes round the bottom of your helmet and stops the wind getting in under your helmet which is one of the main reasons for wind noise. That there and if you dont already wear them, ear plugs.

Thanks everone.
I guess that I am too short 5 8. 173cm. But from what you say I either lower it or use tip toes. As for noise I always wear Custom ear plugs, an find the high screen on the XTX gives a lot of noise I found that it was quiet when I stood up. so tried with the screen removed. Quieter but my arms and neck were too tired after a days ride to work. MMMMMMMMMMMMust think it allover. The Helmet is a Shark RSF fusion, it was ment to be quiet and fog free. Guess it is neither.....

I'm your height exactly.
Have the 50mm lowering kit, and another 30mm of the seat foam shaved off since new. Now on a remodified seat, slightly higher but narrower in the area where the legs hang, so still both feet on ground. No turbulence, noise normal to me. Wear Nolan Classic open face or BMW enduro helmet. I test drove the bike twice at two different dealerships. Somehow, one is significantly better than the other. I like the look of it, and I know some of the negative impressions might have come from my never riding single cylinder before this bike, so it takes just getting used to. |
