Handguard prices
what prices have you guys been quoted recently for the genuine Tenere handguards and wind deflectors?
the last dealer i was in was listing the prices at 90 for the guards and 90 for the deflectors. after i picked myself up off the floor i read it again to make sure i wasn't seeing things, and i wasn't. anyone else had a better price? Pete. |

Pete - I think you've been mis-quoted.
The Guards are good, well made, strong as an Ox and well worth the money. The deflectors are small pieces of plastic, I paid 50 for these and I did have to pick meself up off the floor, even the dealer was shocked. I paid 59 (i think) for the guards I think the overall package is roughly the same price, but they've increased the cost of the guards and reduced the defelectors - they are very good though.

I was quoted 115 all in (guards & deflectors) a couple of weeks ago but still not sure whether to bother or not. They do seem less hassle to fit than some of the alternatives.

IMHO - yes they are.
They are small true, but they do a great job. My last bike had huge handguards and they were less effective than the Yamaha ones, big isn't always better. I have the Acerbis ones on the TTR and they too have small deflectors that are very good. I suppose bigger ones cause a bigger vacum behind, in turn causing more turbulance and an air flow. Small deflector=small vacum=less airflow, I suppose! It depends what you are expecting them to do, they keep the driving rain off (but your gloves will still get wet) as well as the wind blast (but remember -2c is stil -2c !), doubled up with the Oxford Heated Grips in the winter I can get away (on days above 0C) with my intermediate gloves (a bit thicker than summer gloves but without loads of padding). I paid 50 and though at first 'no way are they worth that' but then I kinda come around, at 35 I wouldn't hesitate now.
