HELP! Mounting a long wind deflector - HOW?

Hi all,

I just got my Yamaha Long Wind Deflector and the instructions on how to mount it onto my bike are confusing the life out of me!

My main questions are:
1. Does the long windshield go over the original small screen the bike came with or do I unscrew the small screen and leave it off permanently?

2. What is the purpose of the 2 washers? The instructions show them sitting at the end of the Wellnut for no apparent reason. I thought they might have gone between the Wellnuts and the Right/Left Stays but the instructions say different.

Below is a link to an image of the instructions I received (1 A4 sheet) so you can see what I am talking about.

Any help will be much appreciated! Or even some photos (at many angles) if you have this long wind deflector yourself would be useful.

Cheers
Geoffrey

ive got the larger screen, and yes you take the oe one off before.

The rest i dont really know as it was on my bike when i got its!!

The black line in the left piccy it suppose to be the screen, it means you have the rubber tube which has a thread nut on the inside. Push it throught the hole of the new, longer brackets, then place a steel washer on the backside of the tube. Push the screen on to the front of the bike lining up the holes, slowly push the screw through and start turning, make sure the washer stays on. The metal thread will grab hole of the screw and pull in curling up the rubber in front of it, make sure the washer is as close to the screen as possible.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

I'm looking to buy a windscreen for my xt660x late 2007, & it would appear that Yahama only supply a longer version for the xt660r. Can you recommend a company that could help? Will i need a special bracket to fix the windscreen to the bike?

Many thanks,

Craig

and to

For the XT660X model 2007 onwards Yamaha do not offer an official longer screen, there is a company called Puig that makes one but they are as ugly as ugly can be. I can't remember where it was posted but if you use our search feature and type Puig I am sure you will come across it, but I warn you it's Fugly with a capital F

Thank you for the link. Is Puig the only company supplying a retro fit windshield or are there some UK based bespoke companies knocking about? . . .

Cheers.
