I have now swopped my 07 ECU with O2 sensor for a 05 ECU with no O2 sensor. I have done this to gain full control of the fuel injection, so I can fully adjust the fuelling with all my mods.

I bought a complete wiring loom for a 05 XTX & fitted it to my 07 XTX with no modification needed to make it fit, then coded the 07 immobilizer & keys to the 04 ECU with no problems.

Plug and play? Only Kev and a few other can undertake such a task, I couldn't even change a light bulb without breaking something!!

You know me, anything is game on my XT's. If we don't try different things we will never know.

It is difficuklt to tell be the pictures, But where there big differences in the Loom or had they just added bits for the O" sensor etc?

Blimey mate. My worst nightmare. Small wiring jobs are OK, but a task like that would send me packing. I hope the outcome is what you expect once you have dyno'd it.

Without the help Of WB I would not have been able to do this mod. WB organized my ECU from Holland to UK, then posted it off to me in Australia. A great mate to have & getting a brand new ECU for 66 Pounds was a bargain price. Wiring loom came off Ebay UK 30 Pounds.


As for the running, my bike has never run so smoothly with all my mods, having total control over the fueling is great, I am in love with my XT again. I loaded one of Freez's fuel maps & have played a little in a few rev ranges to suit my bike. I am off to the dyno very soon for a custom fuel map the only way to set the fuelling.

all very nice but does that mean that you have given up on a mod that works for the 07 XTs? Mine is still riding like a bronco when its cold and damp. Was ok in the 'summer'.
Does anybody know what Aprillia and MZ use in their bikes. Same engines with the same output but as smooth as silk!?
