Finally Done It

I have finally converted a set of "X" wheels onto my "R"
this is how it was done
(1) replace brake disk with the R (smaller)one
(2) remove small mudguard (bolts rub the tyre )
(3) move brake line to the outside of the fork (not shown in photo)

Very skilful, but better have both X and R , so that you dont have to change the wheels

It is probably the best bike i have owned (had a few ) for fun factor ,unfortunately i am selling it due to not using it ,it has less than 2500 miles on and with the arrival of a third child ,the xt and a caravan it is getting used less and less so its up for grabs for a bargain 4500

So just to get this correct you replaced the X's disc on the X's wheel with the R's so no need for different calpier or anything like that.
Removed the we crappy black plastic mud guard as it rubs on the small X sized tyre
Moved the brake line from the inside of the wheel to going around the out side so as not to rub it to death.

Was there any problems with spacings/spacers or anything?? Also how much in total did it cost you to complete (wheel + extras)?

And i take it your looking into then changing the rear wheel as she must feel a we bit front heavy now it will be leaning forward due to the different front wheel sizes?

Nice work, don't forget to fit the rest of the front rotor bolts.

I am interested in your ride report, with the X & R having different lower fork legs with different trail angles due to the front axle being more forward on the R. Let us know.

Im olso interested in ride report! Is it OK? Im about to convert my R to X and Im a bit worried about front wheel being smaller 4" and Im afraid my bike will be leaned forward to much.
