Ignition switch stuck wont move
Hi all my ignition switch was a little sticky so sprayed a little WD40 then blew it out with the air line but when attempting to turn the key it will not turn . the ignition is in the OFF postion will not budge left or right .Cant start the bike.
2015 bike with 1500 miles on it I not sure what to do been trying everything got a small needle in the lock to make sure there was no bits down there moved the tank and blew air up the little hole while holding the little latch open used graphite no joy. Pissed off recon the barrels broke or bloked. I could see two sheer bolts that have to be removed to get the ignition off but still not sure if i can strip the barrel out to see whats happend, is it a sealed unit ???? and after a little search on the internet it looks like there are further security screws the dismantle the ignition ..... Is the headstock locked?..ie in parking position?..if it is wiggle the bars a bit as you try and turn the key AFTER you have...
Spray something like carb or brake cleaner down the barrel etc as stuff like wd40 can just pick up the small particles and form a paste that can make things worse,the cleaners will flush stuff through. Once you get it free I would spray more cleaner through it,till it runs clear and then get some graphite spray(lock lube) to lubricate the lock properly |

Try wiggling the key slightly backwards and forwards while in the lock.

Hi thanks for the replies the Key is in the stop position and can be removed at any time , The steering is free the barrel seems stuck in that postion can be rotated clockwise or anti clockwise.I have tried everything pushing the key while turning rotationg the steering while turning tapping on the key while trying to turn it nothing works.
looked in the lock its clear and clean put graphite spray after WD40 .... No joy I pushed the bike to my local dealer which is about a mile from where i live and there having a look . worst case senario is new ignition kit �705.oo +vat due to the ECU and Emobaliser needs to be the same for the key and the fuel cap needs to be changed .....All comes with the new Kit |
