Angry xt660 :) -----> :( in a week

Hello, I'm from gangsters paradise in sunny South Africa.

I have had the joy of owning a nice 2004 XT660R for a week before a some thieves tried to take it.

I had enough security on it to prevent them getting it (an alarm padlock on the sprocket), but not before they cut my clutch cable and four other wires next to the oil dip stick.

I replaced the clutch cable and soldered up the wires, but not the bike doesn't want to start (just turns over but no spark or fuel), the oil light is constantly flickering and the key light never comes on... does anyone have knowledge of this problem? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Rob

Sorry to hear that mate. I've had 2 previous bikes stolen before it is a truly gut wrenching experience. It would be hard to say what other wires or connections could also be damaged.
But welcome anyway.

Hi Rob. Shame you had to join the forum under unfortunate circumstances.

Sounds like there's still an issue with the wiring somewhere regarding the flickering oil light. As for the immobiliser (key) light not flashing, it may well be that the back-up fuse (#6/10A) might have blown when the wires were cut. This fuse supplies the LCD panel back-up and the immobiliser circuit - basically all the circuits that are live when the ignition is off and key removed (hence why it may have blown when the wires got cut). Check this fuse and report back.
