Cheap hand guards (sort of)
After freezing my hands off on the motorway (-3C), I knew something had to be done. I had the standard Yamaha guards already, very strong but the guards are dinky and certainly no good at keeping the chill off your hands. Sadly my Yamaha dealer is road focussed, so no luck on YZ-WR guards or similar off road Yamaha parts. Gulp, last resort was to go to the KTM dealer (please don't ever remind me). I ended up buying these 2 huge black guards and screwed them over my Yamaha ones. 13 so pretty affordable compared to Bark Busters etc. Not the prettiest job but heck when you're desperate, it calls for desperate measures.

Yep another solution to the problem. But none round here to see first.

I also bought some Knox inner gloves, so will try the hand guards and double gloves before moving to the more radical fixes like complete muffs and heated gloves. I already had heated grips, but this only heats the inside of your hands, not the tops where the cold hits you. Time will tell how well this solution works. My hacksaw cutting was a bit crude, so may redo the guards if it works.

Hey Jaques, surely you saw my Muffs at the last XT meet? Tucano Urbano, fit well over Barkbusters and keep all the rain off your hands, allowing the heated grips to do their job. Check out the old (last years) pics.
Cheers SteveD
