Where must I put it?
Hi all, I am a complete petrified dweep when it comes to electrics and need help on this one. I know its not new, but can someone show me with a picture where I should join my tomtom cradle wires (red and black as shown) to the XTs wiring. I am hesitant to cut any wire till I know the exact one. Big thanks For an XTZ Tenere.

No need to cut wires
There is a small 12V connecter behind the plastic covering in the cockpit below the spedoo. You can onluy draw a few A but enough for a GPS. I've just but some soldering tin on the end of the wires and put them in the connector and then secured it with electrical tape and cable binders

Exactly. Hey Jaques, check this out. http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?...t=Power+supply That's the connector that you need. Cut it off and connect the GPS power lead, complete with fuse to this SWITCH powered connector. I just soldered to wires up but a crew type connector is sufficient if you wrap with insulating tape. Cheers Steve

Just be aware that the connector behind the dash is also live when the key is in the "P" position, not just when the ignition is on. If you should accidently walk away from the bike with the key removed in the "P" position, you'll not only leave the side lights on, but also your satnav charging so your battery will go flat even quicker than it would do otherwise!

Ok found the connector behind the speedo. It has a brown and black wire going into the black connector (1 and 2). Am I right in assuming the black (2) goes into my sat nav black cable (4) and the brown (1) goes into my satnav red (3) cable. Do you just insert it in the connector and then solder it in and tape it? Lastly do you put the fuse holder on the red satnav cable (? position) and what fuse. I've heard 3, 1.6 and 1.5amp. Anyone have a picture of the fuse holder I'm looking for?
Thanks again, you can see how little I know by this. ![]() |
