HEL thoughts please
The Hel braided hose arrived today slight problem you need two rubber (don't know what you would call them) sliding pieces on the rear, these fit the clamps to keep the braided hose away from heat source or moving parts. Also one more on the front hose these are fixed and cannot be taken off.
The hoses arrived with two on the front and only one on the rear! Now I could cut one off the front and attach to the rear but you should not have to do that. Also on the short rear there was a minute piece of metal in the tiny hole and I don't know if it slipped into the braided hose or out onto the floor. That does not fill me with confidence once I fit them. Thinking of ringing HEL for exchange what do you think being a bit picky or what? Steve |

Hiya guys, telephoned HEL no problem I will send a couple of grommets out in the post to you. The grommet itself will slide over the banjo bolt if you lubricate he said. A bit of copper grease and a bit of a struggle and the grommet slid off. I have now replaced onto the correct brake hose all well there.
I mentioned the slither of metal and he says should be flushed out when you bleed rear brake if I it is in there and apologised for this happening. I will see how we go. Going to sort this afternoon all being well double hh will be in and braided hoses on. Nice customer service from Hel. Steve |

Good result then. I've used Hel lines for a lot of years and never had any trouble with their products or customer service.

The good news regarding HEL lines is that they have the exact measurements for the XTX / XTR / XTZ lines because back in 2004 when the XT660X was launched, I sent them my original lines to be measured and they sent them back the next day with a nice discounted set of Hel's thanking me for having been the guinea pig

Something I've been thinking about doing on my tenere as it's now 5yrs old and I think the brake lines could do with a change.
did you see much of a difference?

Further to my first took the back brake hose off I had sort of offered the new Hel braided up looked like it would fit. Once I had got the old one off the new one will not fit to short I will contact Hel on Monday annoying as I had to re-fit it all again as went out today.
I have put Ebc double h in front and I have some for the rear when I get the correct fitting hose. I can report the front is now vastly improved real stopping power brake later into the corners. I have no doubt at all Hel will sort after last couple of phone calls customer service really good. Even though initial problems getting sorted I would not hesitate on using Hel again it has not put me off and can say there equipment is top notch. Steve |
