its immobilizer unit fault ( code 53): noise interference or disconnected lead/cable
1- check the wire harness and connector (and pray this one to work)
2- replace main switch
3- replace ecu

i hope u can fix it mate

As above. Code 53 can potentially be bad news. However...

I came across a chap during the summer who couldn't start his TDM after filling up with fuel. Same code 53.

We fiddled about for ages with no luck until he started emptying his tank bag out and then the cause revealed itself - a car key! With that out of the tank bag, and out of the way, the bike started.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, what had happened was that whilst paying for his fuel he had removed his wallet and some other bits and pieces from his backpack (including the car key). When he returned to the bike he had apparently put them in his tank bag, rather than back in the backpack for some reason. So when he tried to start his bike, the car key (with its transponder) was now near enough to the bike's immobiliser antenna to interfere with the signal and cause it not to start.

So there are some simple (and cheap)causes for a code 53. Let's hope yours is!

Got any car keys in your pocket?

Did yours flash up the same fault code.how did you diagnose it was the ecu rather than the immobiliser.been really disappointed in the quality of this bike...would certainly put me off buying another
