Has anyone tried these tyres? i'm keen to hear feed back and how long they last.

Just changing back to Tourances as Ive had Maxxis for the last 2 months.

They are great off road though I dont do enough to warrant it they hum at 50mph (realy annoying) they are loads of fun in the wet if you like to drift the tail out otherwise they will scare the crap out of you hen you are not ready for it!

Metler Touance is the way ahead theres a reason they fit them as standard!

Well just a update, i've had the 6006's on for a week or so now and have so far only been able to clock up roads miles. only done about 300miles so far and generally the tyres aren't to bad but improving with the miles, they certainly squirm and move around on poor surfaces. my only serious complaint so far is on some road surcfaces the bike developes a weave. i'm currently running both at 29psi so will experiment with different pressures over coming weeks, and will consider getting the balance checked.

hopefully soon i can get some dirt miles on them to see how they handle.

Ok another update, were at about a 1000 miles on them now. they seems to be wearing ok.

on dry roads they are good now they've worn in, wet roads they are not to bad. but on slimy wet roads they are very nervous, and can slide around alot on wet leaves and mud on the road. they let go fairly easily but seem quick to recover grip. but they give good feed back to let you know there's not much grip available.

Due to injury i've still not been near any dirt so still can't comment on that but i hope to resolve that soon.

At last I can give a off road update, the first track was mostly hard packed sand, there were loose and wet areas, plenty of exposed roots with a few short but steep drops and rises, and generally very technical as trails go. The second track was more open and flowing, mostly loose gravel and hard pack with a few muddy Areas.

I'd dropped pressure down to 25psi, on both tracks it's boring to say but the tyres worked very well on both tracks, no issues in loose stuff once the bike was moving, I've no idea what speeds were done but I was only in second for both tracks.

ok so the Maxxis are being replaced next week. so time for my conclusions.

I'm retiring them a little early as i'm keen to try my new tyres i've had sitting around takin up much needed space in my shed.

The tyres are pretty much 3/4 worn now on both front and rear and there's probably a easy 500 extra miles legal use in them so i would of expected around 2500 miles from a set before they were no longer road legal.

I've been keeping away from anything to soft (wet mud) with the tread not being as deep as before but they have held up well.

Ok so the off road side of things first - They are easily better than my abillity off roading, i've tried most surfaces apart from deep soft sand and clay/ really bad mud. my prefered routes are hard pack sand, gravel, and packed mud. There have been no dramas and they bite well into the surfaces, the front isn't so keen on really loose surfaces and gets a bit vague but doesn't produce any dramas. i found 26psi a reasonable prssure, but didn't want to go much lower as there are large rocks on some of these tracks. I think if i was prepared to go lower there would be more grip to be found.

Ok now the Road side of things, the roads i ride really are a sorry state and often dirty from farm and quarry traffic. Apart from damp slimy mornings there have never been any problems. when it is really slimy out there both ends have slid around at times but more so the rear. but this has always been just a slide (nice and progessive without completely breaking traction). In the rain things are fine, the tyre communicate well but i wouldn't recommend any serious lean angles. In icy conditions again the tyres have performed very well, no loss of grip but you can feel them moving around even managing a few uphill sections with little drama. i've not been able to try snow but if you were up for giving it a try i think they would do well.

Ok now for nice road conditions, during the summer they gripped like s??t to a blanket, but i did notice they would wear really quickly and any chicken strips would be gone. on good quality roads again they grip very well.

For road use i tended to use either 26-28psi, on some surfaces you can feel the tyre moving around which took some getting used to, but i also found on some surfaces the tyres will generate a bit of a weave (nearly s??t myself the first time it happened) The front is a noisy sod, in certain conditions it'll be humming as low as 30mph but you get it much more around 60mph some days it can get annoying but you get used to it.

So would i use them again? yes if i had more time to ride off road, as a 50/50 tyre i think they are a good choice. They certainly work well if you drop the pressure from what yamaha suggest. I managed to fit the front myself but didn't get to do the rear as i gave up after fighting the old tourance off the rear for a couple of hours. but seemed easy enough to do yourself. As far as wear goes just be careful in the summer as they will wear very quickly.
