Morning All,

Can anybody recommend me an extinguisher small enough, suitable for fule fires and small enough to mount it somwhere on my bike please?

Good question. Potential problems that come to mind are:
1. Not much space on the bike so it must be a small one.
2. Small ones develop not much pressure and contain little stuff so,
3. Will it really help??? Also because it may well be too near to the flames to be accessed.

Fire blanket??

I've never had the need to use one, or even considered one, but given that we sit on a very hot carrier of flammable liquids, I can certainly see your logic.

For fires caused by faulty/badly placed cookers, then maybe. But I think most people exercise good camping sense and would place cookers in safe locations.

In any case, if you were to carry such a thing with you, then why not a simple kitchen type device that you can buy in most hardware stores ? I found this on B&Q's website:

A fire blanket might be more useful I think, doesn't run out and not as messy!

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

You'd be surprised how things can very quickly get out of control with the likes of vehicle, petrol, gas, electric or flammable materials fires. Fiddling about with a small-sized domestic fire extinguisher is only going to endanger someone's life � is it worth it?

Small ABC powder extinguishers sold for cars aren't much use with anything more than a slight smouldering; they almost always run out before becoming effective, particularly on fuel fires. If you have one, the fact that it�s there provides an irresistible temptation to be the hero and �have a go� - drawing you, and others closer to danger.

On a lighter note... Check out this Russian guy - sets light to his own bike to show off how he can put it out with his fire extinguisher, only the extinguisher doesn't work (which is more common than you'd imagine). What makes it even more hilarious is he actually tries blowing on the flames to try and put the fire out!

OK, I gave up my idea then....

That video is awful.........I would not give up I would keep thinking. MAYBE not a fire extinguisher, have you got a puncture repair can on board??? (For instance).
