PICS-Mods for 48L topbox?

Hi guys,
I need some advice.
I have just made up a mount for my 45litre SHAD topbox (as pictured). The other day when I had it loaded up with groceries I noticed it was bouncing around a bit. I made it out of some angle that was 2mm thick. im now thinking that the angle needs to be thicker. I welded this onto part of an old ventura rack.

Does anyone suggest any frame mods to mount top boxes or do you think the standard grab rail brackets are ok to carry a loaded 48litre box?

thanks for any input...

it looks a bit wobbly, you may be better off, using tube instead of angle.
But keep in mind, that those boxes are rated for a few kilos only.
Making the support rock solid, may end in fractures of the bike frame, where the structure is attached.
So, just don`t overload..

salu2,
joe

Hiya mate, whatever the tips on the structure I would say DONT DO IT. The top box is the worst possible place to carry stuff on a bike as it is well back and high up!!. You make the bike instable with weight in the box as well as dangerous to cross winds. Fit side boxes if you need to carry weight, NOT top box. Good luck!!!
