Not your usual run out !!!

Things started off fine for a last min thing !!!!

The Meteo gave a 33c reading for today so was in two minds weather to go or not , anyway by 9.45am i was on the road heading northish !!!

No plan just wiggle , stayed of themain drags and ended up in Collonges-la_Rouge

Only one pic but all the buildings here are this colour

When i gotback to the Tener Lady these 2 guys pulled up

They left the Vendee over a week ago and are just ambleing about

Hat off to them

Silvest, on his 1965 blue MBK

and Claude on the red 1980 Peugeot

All the camping gear and loving the head light

Claude was playing the part of fuel carrier

Gas on the left and 2 stroke on the right

I asked them where they were heading and the answer was " don't know!! maybe Paris"

Great guys on a real adventure

This is when it all went TITS UP !!!!

Jumped on the TL and noticed this mankie noise !!! rode for about 10 klicks slowly trying to figure out where it was coming from.

Found it REAL TIGHT SPOT IN THE CHAIN, ****** !!!!!

Had a quick look and reckonedi was about 70 klicks from home so had a steady bimmble home.

Got the TL on the stand to get the chain of and as usual with me got distracted and started on getting rid of one of my biggest bug bears
!!!!!! the kick stand switch !!!!

Off it comes

Chased the wire back and uncoupled

Now to join, i used a spade fitting

Not the best pic but you get the idea

Zipped the switch up and found a place under the seat (just in case)

Lifted this fuse

Nice little hole

Out of site but safe

Taped the spade end up and refitted the rubber

Left the front sprocket cove off , i like to see it and it's easier to clean !! Anyway i gave up wearing flares years ago

So now the TL sat waiting for a new chain

Mind you the the old chains soaking in thinners and oil as i'm a

TIGHT BARSTEWARD

Phil

Yep hang on to em , have you tried wrapping the knackered one in old inner tube ? I have and it works

Hi Phil...

When I got my moto I hid the side stand switch under the saddle as soon as I got it. The older LC4's used to break down a lot with the side stand switch being crap.

I too run with the guard off so as to keep an eye on any crud, possible c/shaft oil seal weeps, wear on sprocket and to adjust my chain oiler feed(which goes to the inside of the chain there).

I too have done the old inner tube trick in the hub...works a treat.

After the chain has soaked and drip dried,if it were I I'd then let it soak and drip dry in chain saw oil before putting it back on?

Last year in Maroc I spied a dude getting off the boat with panniers on a moped too and teh same again last week scooting past my house. It must be nice to get to a slow level like that and be able to bimble along taking it all in

By the by Phil...what do you think of the replacement gear lever?...It's not too short or anything?.... I was thinking about getting a replacement for going back to Maroc. I take it it's the one from OTR?

Yep thats the reason Bernard , done it on all my off roaders since i had a problem with what i thought was the engine missing !!!

Tiered spring let the side stand flap about cutting the motor so off they come !!! mind you the Teners nearly new so probably would have been ok for a while.

JBG did take you through the Red Village (Collonges-la_Rouge) the other year ...............HELL of a place

Phil
