They left the Vendee over a week ago and are just ambleing about :team[1]:

Claude was playing the part of fuel carrier

I asked them where they were heading and the answer was " don't know!! maybe Paris"

Great guys on a real adventure

This is when it all went TITS UP !!!!

Jumped on the TL and noticed this mankie noise !!! rode for about 10 klicks slowly trying to figure out where it was coming from.

Found it REAL TIGHT SPOT IN THE CHAIN, ****** !!!!!

Had a quick look and reckonedi was about 70 klicks from home so had a steady bimmble home.

Got the TL on the stand to get the chain of and as usual with me got distracted and started on getting rid of one of my biggest bug bears
!!!!!! the kick stand switch !!!!

Off it comes

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-w...o/IMG_0715.JPG

Chased the wire back and uncoupled

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-W...o/IMG_0716.JPG

Now to join, i used a spade fitting

Not the best pic but you get the idea

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-O...o/IMG_0722.JPG

Zipped the switch up and found a place under the seat (just in case)
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-F...o/IMG_0723.JPG

Lifted this fuse

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-G...o/IMG_0724.JPG

Nice little hole

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-e...o/IMG_0725.JPG

Out of site but safe

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-p...o/IMG_0727.JPG

Taped the spade end up and refitted the rubber

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-J...o/IMG_0728.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-g...o/IMG_0729.JPG

Left the front sprocket cove off , i like to see it and it's easier to clean !! Anyway i gave up wearing flares years ago

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-i...o/IMG_0730.JPG

So now the TL sat waiting for a new chain

hi Phil, good job on the sidestand switch, less to halt proceedings on the trail.

the red town, did johnny b good take us through there a few years ago? if its the one what a surreal place

thanks for sharing

shame about the chain man, just change my standard one along with new cush rubbers at 13k miles, and after a 2.6k mile trip around germany/swizterland the cush rubbers are knackered but im keeping them as im a "tight git" too!!!!:smilies0948:

Yep thats the reason Bernard , done it on all my off roaders since i had a problem with what i thought was the engine missing !!!

Tiered spring let the side stand flap about cutting the motor so off they come !!! mind you the Teners nearly new so probably would have been ok for a while.

JBG did take you through the Red Village (Collonges-la_Rouge) the other year ...............HELL of a place

Yep hang on to em , have you tried wrapping the knackered one in old inner tube ? I have and it works

Hi Phil...

When I got my moto I hid the side stand switch under the saddle as soon as I got it. The older LC4's used to break down a lot with the side stand switch being crap.

I too run with the guard off so as to keep an eye on any crud, possible c/shaft oil seal weeps, wear on sprocket and to adjust my chain oiler feed(which goes to the inside of the chain there).

I too have done the old inner tube trick in the hub...works a treat.

After the chain has soaked and drip dried,if it were I I'd then let it soak and drip dry in chain saw oil before putting it back on?

Last year in Maroc I spied a dude getting off the boat with panniers on a moped too and teh same again last week scooting past my house. It must be nice to get to a slow level like that and be able to bimble along taking it all in :)

By the by Phil...what do you think of the replacement gear lever?...It's not too short or anything?.... I was thinking about getting a replacement for going back to Maroc. I take it it's the one from OTR?

:)

.

PhilinFrance 27-07-13 18:12

Yep , hats off to those lads , just steady away and to be honest probably seeing loads more !!

The old chain !!! I got a new one for the Tener Lady but will keep the oldie for my DR250 proper off roady ......wastes not want not !!

The things you see in Maroc :duckie:

The OTR lever dose seem short on looking at it but seems to work fine for me (size 9) Don't think it is any shorter , can't say i looked properly but the old ones under the seat !!!! you never know.

I will get down your way soon but this bloody heat 39c is cooking me and i have to work in it in a Mini Pelle with cabin !!!!

Phil
