prospective XTX with 50000kms

Looking at a 2nd hand xtx with 50000 kms on the clock.
Is this starting to get long in the tooth?
What problems could I look for?

Appreciate any input.
cheers

Its an 04 with standard service history...

Whats the go with the motor...Is it a design thats been around forever? Do they have a history of spitting cam chains? Are they bullet proof?

I guess thats the type of comments that I was trying to get.

Any comments appreciated.
cheers

On the 04 models we have seen a few main bearings go & a few brake 3rd gears & output gearbox shafts.

If the motor has been looked after the bores & pistons will last 100K, we have very little problems with the cam chains, or clutches.

How much are you paying for this bike?

Hey Roscopeeko: I bought an XTX 2005 in april 2011, with 59000 Kms. on it.
my first bike ever, and it came with some goodies also...
I didn't get any service book, but the PO used to service it at every 5000 Kms.

Since then I have changed the battery, wich happened to be the original one, have changed both sprockets and chain, changed the seals and oil from the forks.
I,m about to take it to my second service and their going to change the cush drive.
Ah, there is an oil spot... somewere around the front of the motor to the side of the clutch... (does not leak in the form of a drop, only a permanent spot).
And I also feel a little move at the steering bearings...

Any input also apreciated...

Cross fingers mine will last for long...!!! -So, did you buy it...???

5k is FAR too much for a bike of that age and mileage!!!!!! In the current economic climate you could get a MUCH more recent one for that kind of money!!!!!

Mine cost me around 3, 470 US dollars.

Another thing: Since the PO used to park it outside of his work, right at the sunlight everything was fadded away. So it came with a brand new set of fairings, and a new set of lights (all of them). And a pair of scorpions titanium exaust.

Also because of that, the digits of the speed are very hard to read...since those digits are sunburbed. The spokes was rusty, so I give them a litlle touch up work with paint.
I have to repaint the tank and the swing arm since the paint was fadded away. The PO told me he did not care about the looks, he just take care of the mechanics and services...Cross my fingers...

I remember in 2006 I sord this bike brand new...Love it...A 'few years latter' I could finally buy it. Don't Know if it is a good price, since it's my first bike, (always ride scooters) and because the conditions of the bike itself , but I really, really like it...

You made a good deal!
Down here in South Amerika these bikes are awfully expensive - even the ones built here in Columbia and Brazil. Prices are far higher than in Europe.
While the price for a new one in Europe is arround 9,300 US$, in Peru its 12,550 in Columbia 11.300...

Therefore, here 2.hand bikes easily sell for 1/2 price after some abusive years.

good luck with your XT!

salu2,
Joe
