more speed

Hi everyone, so glad i found this forum.
I ride a 06 XTR, it has micron pipes and dna filter on, but still i need more speed.

I had her on a track last week, and the only problem i had (besides the foot pegs grinding on the road) was the top end at about 185 km/h (that is about 115mp/h)I need to replace the chain and sprockets, so i was thinking of going 3 teeth smaller at the back. will this make a big difference?

Oh yes, and I worry about riding the xt to hard keeping up with the sports bikes.
How tough is this engines?

Thanks for reading

Or stop pretend racing on tarmac, and start doing real racing on dirt, where the power will be plenty.

Oh and welcome!

Welcome, you have found a wonderful place!!! The 21 inch front wheel is not perfect for fast cornering and you are using an on/off road machine as a sports bike so it may never really satisfy you!!!. The motor is as strong as strong can be BUT u may be better getting a sports bike for fast stuff and use the XT as nature intended!!! Have fun, Simon

Thumbs up

Thanks everybody

What i love about my xtr, is the versatility.
I can pretend race on tarmac and have alot of fun, then go off roading the next day and have some more fun, without changing anything.
Its light, quick, powerfull, good looking and easy to ride my 10km to work and back every day.

I dont want a sports bike at the moment, I just want to enjoy both worlds more, with a little more speed in the straights without compromising offroad ability.

For now I'm just fitting a 16 tooth front sprocket, then go from there.

Thanks again for the advice everyone
