Hello from an XT600Z Londoner

Hi everyone,

I picked up my 2nd hand 2009 Tenere a fortnight ago. Have been really enjoying it and am impressed by the wealth of info on here.

Perhaps I should add a little about the bike...

It's fairly standard but previously had Leo Vince cans and a power commander fitted. It still has the DNA filter and stage 2 snorkel replacement fitted. I'll need to do some checking to see if that's not making it run too lean.

It also has a high front mudguard, some extra driving lights (now removed) and a Touratech headlight cover.

I had a really good session today removing the driving lights, tidying up some wiring around the front panel. Shimming out the grommets around the clocks with some washers to stop them shaking, fitting in the Optimate charging lead, blocking off the AIS hose and trying (but failing) to fit some WR footpegs.

I did try to change the CO setting as I suspect it's a bit lean with the current air filter setup but failed dismally.

Hello there jimbo and welcome aboard.

I'd guess you may well be running a little lean with the changes to filter and intake. The cheapest, easiest and quickest way to fix this is probably to consider a Kev fuelling mod...

The Yamaha diagnostic tool Stoic mentions above is not that expensive. I bought one and I have to say it was money well spent, makes setting up/testing/fault finding easy and you can erase fault codes without a trip to the dealer (one saved dealer visit and it pays for itself!) I got mine here...

Worked out about 100 with tax and shipping.
