Know anything about Dunlop 606
Hey crew, anyone got feedback on Dunlop 606's. I would like some aggressive tyres for winter, some real dual-sport riding and it gets muddy out in the Victorian forests.
I've been recommended these 606's as a good solution, they are road-legal with a good wear rate compared to motocross/MX tyres. I've been quoted $125 rear 130x90x17" and $100 front 90xsomethingx21" I think I will give them a go. I am awaiting delivery of a 2-1 exhaust for better clearance, bash plate, full front fender and some more bits ready to hit some good off road trails! |

We don't have D606 in the UK,(and I think Europe as a whole), the nearest tyre is the Pirelli MT21.
They look good, give them a go....

Hi Nutt
Yep the 606 is not to bad a tyre and that seems like fair pricing. I have used 606 rears on my TTR600 and they work well enough, have ridden my mates 1200GS with 606's (he has 21 and 18 wheels for it) and they work well on it. The 1200 gets about 4500 to 5000km out of the rear and I get 3500 to 4000 out of them. Others seem to get more km's out of them but they are a good allrounder. Have you looked at Michelin T-63, they are better in mud then 606's IMO. I get a bit better mileage and feels a lot better to steer with the rear. Give the 606's a go they are a good tyre, I would fit them or T-63 to my 660R if I had to use it offroad. |

Cheers for the info, as soon as all the other parts arrive from MetalMule and off-the-road I will go and get the tyres!

On our last few trips into the Outback we have used Pirelli MT21's and Dunlop D606's. I had the MT21's on my R while Richard used the D606's on his Tenere.
Both types seemed to perform fairly well with reasonable milage and good offroad performance - allbeit mainly in the dry so to speak. The D606's do seem to be a bit more meaty than the MT21's - especially on the rear. At the moment I am currently running Heidenau K60's and Richard has Mefo Explorers - both of these selections are obviously aimed at a more realistic 50/50 riding combination. Quoted prices seem reasonable. Hope this helps.

Hi Nutt
I had the D606 on my xtr as my last set of tyres. I got about 4500 out of rear. I have gone back to the tourance for now. They 606 floated a bit at 110km/h on the bitumen, and wasn't as good on gravel roads as the tourance. It is a massive improvement in mud and clay, and slightly better in sand. All in all it is a good 50/50 tyre, but i wasn't doing 50/50 like I thought I was. Oh yeah, the 606 generates a lot more noise on the road too. |
