Tempted? - take the plunge!

Hi Cap'n,

Hope that you and the gent from MTC can indulge a few questions about my can wish-list?

I want the 2 into 1 titanium oval with carbon end cap, this is for my XT660Z Tenere. My understanding of the list is that this will be 255.00 plus postage to Spain, which is very reasonable, thanks to both the Cap'n and the gents from MTC . Before I leap I have some questions, these are;

1) Will the can still allow the use of my Touratech pannier racks?
2) Does the exhaust come with a European certificate of conformity (Homologation)
3) Does the can have a cat?
4) Can you remove said cat if need be?

no. two above is a pain, but I won't get the bike past the local MOT unless it has the homologation.

Thanks,
TL

Yes. I have the TT racks and it fits fine. If you recieved your panniers pre-assembled (there was a choice with the original Zegas, but not with the new Zegas) then you have no problems.

If you put the pannier mounts on yourself and fitted them in different places then you might have issues - but I can't see why you would put the mounts in these places anyway!

Other answers are:

1) The can comes with a BS (British Standards) omolgation stamp and ref. number, this you will find it is not recognized nor understood by the spanish police, however no one that I know from the spanish forum that has bought cans from UK (formerly from Carbon Can Co.) has ever been prosecuted provided they weren't taking the piss with no baffles on and being stopped for extreme noise.

2) to the best of my knowledge there is no cat converter in aftermarket cans.

Cheers for that gas up. What does it sound like with that can? Is it overly loud? Do you think that the exposed pipe is a hazard in the event of a fall? JMO has put XR400 plastic side panels on hers which look good and should stop this from happening. I fall off a lot! Still recovering from a fall on a steep descent two weeks ago (nothing broken) but my mate had to lift the Ten off of me.

Cheers Cap'n, will the Ten pass an emmissions test without a cat? I'll call MTC and ask if they can do a cat which can be removed.

MTC Cans and Europe

A spanner in the works.

Can't get the MTC cans as the British Standard is below 98 Decibels. Europe's standard is below 93 decibels. The MTC cans will not pass a European inspection (not definitive, but likely not too).

Ok then...

Getting tempted by one of these having had a good look at GULGo's over the weekend.

So the slightly random question - could MTC send me a second matching sleeve (undrilled, no end caps/innards) that I could use to make up a tool tube, and how much would that add to the price? Would probably be going for the stainless oval option.

Looking at GULG's can on the weekend and was impressed.

Prices are very keen.

Well done to all that made this happen. I already have a single can, but if I need a new one it'll be an MTC.

erm..

They did, and there are some pictures in this very thread!

Video is always a bad idea as the sound is never the same as the real thing.
