Rigid Industries LED spotlamps
Thought i'd show you folks my [new(ish) lamps, fitted these last october but never got round to posting them up.
Had a set of the halfords 70mm halogen spots on the bike last year, and unfortunately the vibrations on the bike shook them to bits after less than 100 miles. thats the end of them then. I dont normally have spare cash but i was in the rare situation where i did have, so i looked around for a robust alternative. I looked at the visionX ones and was very tempted, then i came across these http://www.zenoverland.com/lighting/...es_dually.html . The video on the manufacturers website shows a large version of the lamps getting seven bells beaten out of them and they're fine! The company seems to have originally intended for their lamps to be fitted to off-road race trucks like the Baja500 type stuff, so 'robust' is an understatement. Although they arent as small as the VisionX, the lamps work out quite at bit cheaper (price on that site is per pair) and the light output is 1300 lumens per lamp compared to the VisionX's 900 lumens, and you can get two different beam patterns, or a combo. I guess the LEDs in the Rigid lamps mustn't be as bright, as they have 4 per lamp to the VisionX's 1, but a saving of nearly fifty quid AND more light made it an easy choice for me. I would just like to add that I have no connection to ZenOverland, other than being a happy customer - when i emailed the owner to ask if he had a a video of the lamps to show light output, he didnt have one, so he did one for me straight away. that the video thats now attached to the product page in the link. He's a nice guys to deal with, and his prices are spot on - i also bought a BestRest Cyclepump inflator from him (it was that that led me to him) and his price was noticeably lower that the next best price. Good products, good prices, good service??? a rare combination, worth remembering IMO. pics below - i dont have any pics in the dark, but trust me they're good. pics below Last edited by Gas_Up_Lets_Go; 04-02-11 at 14:34. |

Was looking at these yesterday and wondered how big they'd look on the bike.
PS you need to rake them leaves up, pete. |

I just got these, delivered last night. Tried them out connected to a power pack and the output is very good. You need the 1500 lumens output . Paid 30 each

i went for 2x spots - i'm happy with the dip beam on the bike, but the high beam has always diappointed me, so i've wired them in to come on with the high beam. They come with a wiring harness too by the way - i didnt use it as i had already had halogen lamps on the bike so i connected them to the same wires, but the wiring that comes with them is perfectly suitable for LED lights - its a simple setup, just a fuseholder, switch & lamp connections (no relay.) If you go for combo you may want to just use the harness for the flood pattern lamp -wire it to the sidelights to be on all the time, and snip off the second connector to wire the spot lamp to the main beam directly, do it that way and the flood can be switched on and off. i know the extra high beam lamp should have a switch too, but you can get away with it. also by wiring in the flood to the sidelights it will stay on when you switch to main beam, so you'll have light near & far. The harness has the waterproof connectors for the lamps on it though, so even if you make up your own wiring you'll want to snip them off and solder them to your new wiring. |

I have a set of the VisionX (or is it Xvision?) ones and they are the best LED lamps I've seen, but if you were to ask me are they worth 180, then I'd say not. They just don't put the lght down on the ground well enough, although I did buy then 2nd hand so I got them alot cheaper, and they are both the wide beam, where I think one wide and one narrow would be better.
Yours, at nearly 50% more light and 27% cheaper are much better value I think, it's just the size, but you can't have everything!

Darren makes a fair point about the size, as he says - cant have everything!
when i first got them on the bike i thought 'whoa, they're a bit huge' but now they just look right to me. If you've got Darrens loom, you may have Darrens mounts too? be prepared to alter them slightly - these lamps hang down quite a bit in relation to their mounting point. No probs Keith, you're welcome. |

Good post and awareness raising Pete, cheers. I need to pull my finger out and get my lamps made up. At this rate it'll be summer again...
