Handlebars
Hi All,
can anybody suggest a good (but cheap) replacement for the standard "bend-easy" bars on a 07 XT660R? Cheers, Lance |

Do you want the same size bars?
Renthal 722 40 will fit, but I think they are slightly lower but wider, apparantly. It is a bit of a mystery trying to find higher bars on this forum for the R model. Renthal 735 fit apparantly, but I'm not sure if they are that much higher?, but they are wider. Be careful if you are searching the forum, as some people can make comments on threads, but don't have the same model bike. I am waiting for some Renthal 613 to arrive..should be today....keep an eye on my thread. I think these will be far too wide, so may need the ends trimming, but they are higher. Not sure if they'll fit easily tho' ! Apparantly the clutch cable may be the stumbling block, in not being long enough. I will have more info for you in the next 24hrs or so......with accurate measurements of the OEM bars, so that you can use that to compare others.

I had a few off last year in the snow and off roading, replaced the standard bars with some spin off Renthal ones but they just werent the best.
Finally got a set of Renthal Street Fighters for about 45, they are a little higher and narrower than the standard ones but i find them better for off roading plus you dont need any new cables

Quote:
I have drawn two conclusions so far, (1)that the OEM handlebars vary, (2) that measuring the OEM handlebar is tricky, and incorrect measurements can be taken when doing comparisons. My measurements of the OEM height varied between 100 and 115. I spent a while trying to get accurate measurements, but I can honestly say I'm not 100% sure that they are bang -on.
