Hi All,

can anybody suggest a good (but cheap) replacement for the standard "bend-easy" bars on a 07 XT660R?

Cheers,

Lance

Is 30-50 enough?

Do you want the same size bars?

Renthal 722 40 will fit, but I think they are slightly lower but wider, apparantly.

It is a bit of a mystery trying to find higher bars on this forum for the R model. Renthal 735 fit apparantly, but I'm not sure if they are that much higher?, but they are wider. Be careful if you are searching the forum, as some people can make comments on threads, but don't have the same model bike.

I am waiting for some Renthal 613 to arrive..should be today....keep an eye on my thread. I think these will be far too wide, so may need the ends trimming, but they are higher. Not sure if they'll fit easily tho' ! Apparantly the clutch cable may be the stumbling block, in not being long enough.

I will have more info for you in the next 24hrs or so......with accurate measurements of the OEM bars, so that you can use that to compare others.

I had a few off last year in the snow and off roading, replaced the standard bars with some spin off Renthal ones but they just werent the best.

Finally got a set of Renthal Street Fighters for about 45, they are a little higher and narrower than the standard ones but i find them better for off roading plus you dont need any new cables

Maxwell - this confuses me, as, according to my B&C Express Renthal Chart, the Streetfighter "789" bar is 755 Width, 100 Height. My OEM is 775 Width, 100 Height minimum (SEE BELOW)..........so your Renthal Streetfighter would be the same height and narrower compared to my OEM handlebars.

I have drawn two conclusions so far, (1)that the OEM handlebars vary, (2) that measuring the OEM handlebar is tricky, and incorrect measurements can be taken when doing comparisons. My measurements of the OEM height varied between 100 and 115.

I spent a while trying to get accurate measurements, but I can honestly say I'm not 100% sure that they are bang -on.

Hi,

It's pay day on Friday so I'll most likely get some Street Fighters ordered...

Thanks for the advice and I'll report back when fitted.

Cheers,

Lance

the 613-01 Renthal fit, on my 2008 XTR, if you re-route the clutch cable and switch wiring next to it.

They are higher (about 30mm) and alot wider (about 55mm) than my standard handlebars.... http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=15842

It is a bit tight on the clutch cable, I will try another routing, but it works.

Or you can get a slightly longer clutch cable...something off-the-shelf or made up by Venhill.
