Range on the XT1200z
What's the best you've gotten out of a full tank on the XT1200z? Am looking for the next bike to replace my 660z but the lack of range puts me off.

only got 800 miles on my 1200 but a long commute today over fast A roads and motorway today got ~185miles to reserve trip kicking in. I suspect I've got over 5 litres left from previous fill ups at reserve trip starting so probably an easy +50miles left. I'll update when I fill up as I'm still defrosting.
I was pushing on as much as possible upto a reasonalble "safe" speed running in sport map (which is alledgedly thirstier but I'm not convinced yet) . So I think it can get close to the 660 range but will very much depend on how much you spank it.

its got the same 23ltr tank as the 660z hasn't it? If it does 230m to a tank I'll be mightily impressed.
Out of interest, what's the buffetting like at motorway speeds?

Buffeting is significantly better than it was on my 660z. That used to fair rag my head around when pushing on. I still get a bit of it but it isnt as tiring as the 660 was. For info I'm on the stock 1200 screen/postion and had a stock screen on the 660 both with me using a shoei hornet. That was the worst bit for me on the 660 as it started to get tiring when making progress on faster roads and required a lot of throttle too which may have contributed to the range I used to get on the 660 (seemed to be lowest of those posting on another thread). With the 1200 its far more in its comfort zone so has more reserves left to crack on when needed.
That said some (on advrider) have got issues with 1200 buffeting but sometimes I think peops want car like serenity on thier bikes (goldwing owners ?) as long as it doesnt annoy me i'm usually happy.

That, is a a very good point. I like being on a bike because it's closer to the elements, so when people complain about it I have difficulty understanding thier issue.

thing is, I want to get the bluetooth system for my schuberth helmet so I need to keep ambient volume down on my next bike. Even with a givi screen, there's no way I'd here the earphones on my 660.
