Heated grips

I really need to get some heated grips on my tenere... This winter in victoria is killing my hands... What are you guys using?? I have barkbusters fitted.. Do I go for the Oxford heated grips... Do yamaha make one for the tenere.. I have read somewhere that the aux power behind the headlight is for heated grips.. It will be ideal to get ones that use that power... ????

I've just put a set on mine. I went for the oxford ones as they are the best available in my opinion. I also have barkbusters on mine and the two together are a perfect combination to keep my hands warm in the morning. I wired mine up directly to the battery. They come readily wired, just plug in a few plugs and hook it up to the battery terminals.

I would not touch Oxford grips again with a bargepole!!!! I have them for a year and was on my fourth set (for different reasons) by the time i had had enough. Got the dealer i got them from to change them for Daytona heated grips and to refund me the price difference. (Daytona`s were cheaper)
Have not fitted them yet to be fair but have searched the net and peoples reveiws of them seem good. A lot simpler setup by the look of it and less to go wrong.

I went for Sympatec heating elements. These stick to the handlebars and the original grips go back over the top. Apart from the switch, off/low/high, there is no outward signs of heated grips being fitted. I fitted them last year so they've only done one UK winter (was a cold one though), but so far so good. Much cheaper than Oxford too.

+1 for Symtec heated grips, have them on my XTX and the last 5 bikes i have owned, very very good, wouldnt touch Oxford with a barge pole personally.

Do not use this, it's not man enough. Go straight to the battery via a fuse (as Roswellj says).

Muffs are enough to keep my hands dry and warm.

I Have Daytona grips. Not that impressed. The low setting is way too low and pointless. I have connected to the aux socket under the dash along with my GPS. The Yam one fit to the aux socket so should be OK and my dealer also agreed.

Not sure why you don't think the aux socket is man enough. The grips generally only draw about 3 amps.
