New pipes & still cutting out!!!!!

OK, I've just put new race cans on and with-in the first mile of ridding it cut out again.

So I took the snorkel out. It seemed fine for about 30 miles, and then started cutting out lots ( mainly in slow traffic ).

I've ordered a K&N to see whether that'll help.

The things is I've got it booked in for it's first 600 mile service this week, and don't know whether to mention it in case what I've done will invalidate the warranty. Or if I do mention it so they can sort the problem??????

Up your idle mate, when you fit aftermarket cans you need to adjust your idle speed. Have a read in the mod section on the very last post at the end of the page under Common Problems

I would fit the DNA filter as it flows more air than a K&N filter.

Getting the revcounter on your dash.

Step 1. Before turning the ignition on press and hold Select and Reset buttons, turn the ignition on and keep holding both buttons until you see the Diag screen appear.

Step 2. Press Select once to toggle to the CO MODE

Step 3. Press both Select and Reset together. Hold for about 3 seconds to enter co mode. The number displayed is the cylinder selected. You need to select 1, Press select to scroll up and Reset to scroll down.

Step 4. Press both Select and Reset simultaneousley for a few seconds to see the setting for the selected cylinder. This number will be different on every bike. Now crank your bike by pushing the starter button & a rev counter will display on your dash so you can set your idle, make sure your bike has warmed up before setting the new idle speed.

Wow!!!! A rev counter. When I collected the bike a few weeks ago from a main Yamaha dealer I did question that there was no rev counter, and was told that there wasn't one. So I never thought about looking for something that wasn't there.

Thanx for the help, and I will go DNA.

Indeed!

Cancel the K&N and then head here:

http://www.motorcycle-exhausts.co.uk...abf2f0dfd33911

Where I think its still cheaper than buying from DNA themselves because they've put the prices up!

Unless the Capt can get you a discount from DNA.
