ToolTube Mounting

Got these Tool Tubes (Fork Lift etc Operators manual holders) From a friend that imported a big batch to be used as tool tubes.

They are nice and sturdy and the importer had some nifty zip up baggies made that slide into each tube and keep your tools etc organized,

I used some Ally and made up some brackets to mount them to the Ten.

Works a treat, the 2 tubes carry my tools, patch kit, Gas bombs x 3, Jump Leads, Siphon hose and 1x 21" Tube, They can also carry a 750ml bottle of Scotch per tube :-)

Nice work Jules,
I did have a similar thought to you but my idea was to mount them off the pillion peg mounts where they connect to the bike frame and then run at the same angle of the bike frame, up towards the rear grab handles.

In about 6 months keep an eye out on those pop rivets.... depending how much weight is in your tool canisters will depend on how long the rivets and alloy brackets hold up to the vibes of the bike/road surfaces. If one or the other.. or both! fail on you just..... do the same thing but in flat bar steel and nylock nuts/bolts, weight gain is minimal but stronger.

Cheers
Reg.

Spooky - I was just going to say the same thing!

Mind you, if you're running the standard exhaust it's a very neat idea to have them mounted the way Jules and Minky have - and I presume they'd tuck in nicely behind the panniers if you had hard luggage fitted too?

Maybe Adventure-Spec should make a a set of brackets themselves (as they sell the tubes already) for the Tenere?

Jx

Beat me to it, I noticed that would be the ideal place to mount them.

Well done

I did it like this:
some ordinary pipe, sealed from one side, cap on the other, one clamp to close safely the tool box...
All together costed me around 12 €.

I think it looks nice and works well. I just came from EnduRoMania and if it didnt fall of there, it will never.

thanks for the idea
just a different take on mounting

one inch flat bar bolted accross

i just re drilled the mounting points on the tube

i figure this will be a stronger set up

welding rod for the template

and just bent the flat in a vice

Looks nice.

Also the scottoiler mount behind the license plate.
