Hi All, I want to fit new switch gear to enable me to turn the head light off when i want - Any ideas please Guys

You have not said which XT & what year?

On a XTX & XTR.

Locate the left bar switch wiring loom, cut the Blue/White wire & add a 10 Amp water proof switch between the cut wires. You now can turn the head light on & off using this switch.

Not sure why you want this switch, as the XT turns the head light off when the starter switch is pushed.

Justed checked the XTZ, it is also a Blue/White wire.

Thanks Kev,

We have XTR's - the reason is that we will be rough camping on our trip and doing loads of off road back country riding so it could be usefull to be able to switch off the head light especially if we need to stay un-noticed.

Kev, would it be possible you use the Hazard switch to turn off the head light - we don't need the hazard lights.

You should be able to but the wiring is very tight in the oe switch gear. I would suggest you get a sepearte switch and place it between the dash and the screen on the head light unit, means less wiring etc.

I do not think the switch would take a AMP's dirctly. You could use the switch through a 4 pin 20/30amp horn relay.
