Talking OEM pannier rubber holder

(sorry if there's a more relveant thread, feel free to merge)

I've long ago lost the LHS rubber thingy which hold the front rhs bottom corner of the LHS sidecase.... but I just use the RHS case on a daily basis for lock/cover/shopping/packed-lunch

I recently removed the RHS pannier for a day and guess what.. I lost the RHS rubber thingy.

so I cut 2 rings (5cm wide) in the tube I had left from the cush drive mod, wrapped one twice around the metal bit attacked to the peg, then wrapped over the 2nd ring twice and pronto !

I'll see if I can get a picture

Great thinking.

This migrating rubber is becoming a bit of a problem for people. I alway took mine off and chucked it in the pannier when it was off the bike. Only thing then was the two knife-like mounts sitting just up from the rear hanger!

on a different topic, one of my original keys (11month old) broke in the lock tonight.

I extracted it easily using 2 very small flat screwdrivers and could open the sidecase using the spare key.

I emailed the importer and asked for a new lock (I don't need a full sidecase anyway) and would be gutted to lose all my stickers

The rubbers can be bought by quoting 5VS-W9753-00 same as Fjr parts cost around a tenner for the two, I glued mine on since just the lock and key got replaced on mine so your stickers are safe

The key shown is the old type which is longer etc..the new ones are much better. Ive had all mine replaced and glued the rubber mounts on. No problems at all with the new locks etc there alot better than the old stiff ones.

I have had already my complete LHS side case replaced and it came with the new locks. I could confirm immediatly that they're much better.
Although the irish importer didn't want to pro-actively replace the lock on my 2nd side-case... and denied any service bulletin regarding the locks.

I'll be trying to get just the lock for the RHS, but it took more than 3month to get the 1st one replaced ....

About the rubber, I remember reading in a thread that someone drilled through and used a cable tie to hold them in place.
