Yamaha Top Box - Lock ID

I've got the Yamaha top box now along with the ARD cases.

There was some bad news on the original Yamaha lock and I don't know if mine's OK or will fail..

Can someone remind me which key shape is the one to have?

Thanks..

The key you need is the small stumpy one which is diamond shape not the long one which has a square plastic tab. The replacement side case locks also fit the top box.

The lock doesn't matter anymore, as I set fire to the Yammy top box!!

Stupid I know, but I didn't think about the X Racing pipe feeding hot gas to the plastic underside.. Anyway it's toast now and I rode to the local tip with the thing still hot and that was that!!

Need to find another solution now...

Do not do this:

Rack and roll bag ?

I morphed a GS1200 rack to fit mine, then paired it with the TT GS1200 tail bag. Nearly as much room as the OE topbox, but you can't fit a lid in it!

I was thinking about a metal plate and then a roll bag or similar.. Needs to be out of the way of the exhaust exit..

Who makes the metal plates and how do they secure?

Petebog on here makes a rack, great quality, great price - you'll need to PM him to find out availability.

Touratech make two (large & small) racks for the Tenere, a bit more expensive.

I bought a TT rack for a GS1200 and made it fit, cost me 25 of evilbay. At the time I had a OE box, so I made an 'interface' so that the rack fits into the same mouts as the OE topbox (so I could swap between the two). It took ages to make and wasn't easy with block nylon, but it works. I then welded up a sub-frame for the BMUU rack to fit to with a few extra tie points that are the right size for padlocks (handy for locking your lid/jacket to).

With a bit of imagination and some time in the garage you could even make your own rack out of mild steel if you were that way inclined..

stupid idea: remove the ending/exit/cap of the silencer, turn them 180 degres to have them pointing downward, attach cap back..
