upside-down fork for xt?

Hi kev, some time ago you wrote about your idea to fit an upside-down front fork on your xtx, you were looking for a Yz or WR fork. What about for this?
Thanks.

I still might do it. I have already done all the home work so know what needs to be done.:035:

It is still on my list of mods to be done. I am working on my ECU conversion at the moment, so I can get the PC5 when it comes out.

i bought about ten years old yam yz 250 front end. i have a plan to maintain it and change springs to stiffer ones.

what do think....is yz front end tough enough to xt? i have changed some e mails with off the road people and they said that it is not going to work. main reason is too weak triple clamp. or so they said. i am just wondering that riding mx bike is quite tough at least in my experience. or is xt just so much heavier that this will be an issue?

what do you think???

YZ USD Forks

Hi Hono,
I'm thinking about replacing the front suspension same as you, except mine come from a WR450F. I spoke to the suspension specialist and told me we should pay close attention on fitting the brakes, mainly. Apparently the only issue is to switch to the proper spring rating which, as you'd mention, has to take into account the extra weight.
But first, we are going to try new springs and race tech emulators to see how it feels. I do mostly off road riding and the roads here are Baja 1000 grade! So I need to shave some extra weight of my bike by installing a 2 in 1 exhaust system from metal mule. At any rate this is just the start and hopefully, with in a few months, we'd have built a new dessert queen!
Cheers from sunny Sonora Mexico.

I see the OTR XT660 Rally Raid bike has upside-down forks... Didn't see them for sale anywhere on the site though?

Will they give good advice on what's best for free?

just send mail to otr. otr wp frontsuspension set (wp forks and otr triple clamps), if i remeber right, costs 1990 . quite expensive i think. you can buy allmost new mx bike without engine (rolling chase) from US for 1000 + shipping.

otr guys told me that triple clamps from mx/enduro bikes are too weak. otr triple clamp costs 679 .....

iam going to change my front end to mx front end.

Hi Hono,
Great pic, that's what I'm talking about! Did you feel an improvement in performance? Besides the weight?
