thanks mate. can anyone suggest any other ones to have a look at. i tried a ufo universal one off another bike and it came too close to the tyre at the bottom. cheers charlie.

Yes, there are loads cheap LED lights on ebay and many folk seem happy with them, the CREE ones seem to be in the middle somewhere and Vision-X at the top end. I have the Vision-X stuff (cheap if bought in the US ;) ). The only thing I'd say is, be very careful what beam pattern you get - they do 4 kinds; the fog, flood and 15/45 don't really focus the light enough so you end up with a lot of wasted light in the form of scatter/glare. The 10 degree spots (the ones with convex lens in the centre, not a diffuser) put a substantial amount more light on the road and IMHO very effective in terms of light on the road per Watt.

Studs are finally coming on! Perfect conditions for enduro studs here now, had -20, sudden heatwave with melting, colder again and soft powder on top of that. Can drive on roads, the lakes and rivers anywhere I want and even take a trip down town. =)

She's clocked up 800 miles this week, took her for 1st service last week.
