European Tour 2008
Thought I'd put a few pics here of the Tenere in various places around Europe in September 2008:
http://www.smokingtailpipes.com/Gallery/P8290050.JPG This would be Denmark, just south of Odense, http://www.smokingtailpipes.com/Gallery/P8300060.JPG and one of many campsites, this time in Sweden about 70kms north of Jonkoping, http://www.smokingtailpipes.com/Gallery/P9020075.JPG Loaded and ready to go, this time in Finland about 20Kms south of the Arctic Circle - you can still see the frost on the bike. It was a bl00dy cold ride south that day! http://www.smokingtailpipes.com/Gallery/P9020079.JPG Finland has some quite spectacular lakes, but one looks just like another after a while! http://www.smokingtailpipes.com/Gallery/P9060089.JPG Kostnice, just outside Prague. I've some film of the inside that I'll get on-line when I get some time. The inside of the church is decorated with the bones of 30,000 dead people - it's a bizzar place, well worth a visit if you're within a couple of hundred km's. http://www.smokingtailpipes.com/Gallery/P9100106.JPG The mountains of Northern Greece, I took the mountain road from Thessaloniki to Igoumenitsa, this road was way better than anything I've found in the Pyrenees or the Alps. Superb road, if a little slippy at times! http://www.smokingtailpipes.com/Gallery/P9130117.JPG This was KaTEy at the end of my challenge, I was 1200 miles from Amsterdam and had just 26 hours to get there before the ferry left! http://www.smokingtailpipes.com/Gallery/P9130118.JPG This is what I looked like after 18 days in the saddle, you can see the look in my eyes at the prospect of 26 hours riding..... |
twin?
Some nice pics there! However, the thing that has me laughing is that you have
the same colour of bike as me and the same Hein Gericke suit!! Could be confusing if we're ever in the same place together... :icon_confused:

What's really funny, I've had the suit for a year now, my wife still thinks I got the bike to match the suit....... |

Well, didn't you? I know I did, I bought mine to wear on my Ulysses...! It just wouldn't have looked as good on a white or black Tenere though, it had to be desert khaki! :icon_lol: I wonder, does anyone else out there have this bike / suit combination? |
Nice piccies mate, very jealous
and any suit bike combo is ok with me. You should see mine, blue bike, brown dirt, black hein gericke suit oh and some more dirt |
Nice pics

Darren,
Glad to see you made it all the way through. Pity we didn't get chance to meet up in Portugal. How did you got on with the GPS mounted above the clocks? Was it affected by vibration? Nick. |

It's true, I really thought about buying a khaki tenere to match the suit, but I liked the white too much. |

It vibrates like crazy, so I put a Touratech mount in between and now it just bounces a bit at low rev's but it's fine at higher revs. If I was doing it again I'd put it in the RAM mount on the bars - then again, the same RAM mount with the Camcorder on destroyed the camcorder, I was gutted to find out a load of footage with me riding was useless!! |
